For those of you who don't already know, Mark and I have our own photography business. Mark officially started the business about a year ago and to say it's been pretty successful is a complete understatement. Mark is the main shooter and I'm his second shooter for weddings and assistant/lens holder/light box lugger/fixer of the models hair and makeup/and driver for engagements and bridal shoots. I LOVE it. He's so talented and I feel so lucky that we are able to do something like this together...and not kill each other like some couples would! We have so much fun meeting the couples and working with them to capture this special time in their lives. Being around the romance and excitement of newly engaged couples is so refreshing! Anywho, I'm sure most of you have seen the website, but if not, take a looksy Mark Potter Photography.
This is the first weekend in a while that we haven't had a shoot to do. I was in a Excel workshop for work on Thursday and Friday of last week. Mark took his third graders on a field trip to the art museum in Raleigh on Friday (kill me). Needless to day, by Friday night, cocktails were in order. I made Moscow Mules. Freakin yum. If you like ginger, you'd love it!

I spent most of the weekend reading the Hunger Games series. I'm on the last book now. I'm so addicted. I love Peeta, but I love Gale. But I love Peeta, but they had to go and make Gale cuter in the movie, but if Peeta and I had kids, the blond hair would be uber cute, but Gale is much more streetwise and would never take a knife to a gunfight, but on the other hand, Peeta could bake me his bready goodness and feed into my love of carbs,...and frost me all day...

my one "nice" post
My New Year's Resolution (I'm 4 months late, so sue me) is to start making a conscious effort to feed my "good wolf." I'm a firm believer in waking up and choosing your attitude for the day, life's free accessory! It's so easy to feed into anger and negativity. And jealousy (especially jealousy). So incredibly easy to start digging that hole of "I don't have enough of this" and "we need more money" and "I hate this person because..." Before you know it, your covered by mounds of negativity, buried so deeply you can hardly see a good thing even if it hits you in the face. I'm not Pollyanna, and I'm still going to gossip and wish I had things that I don't, hell, I'm female but I'm going to try hard to take it down a notch. Like my husband ALWAYS says, "If you send positive energy into the world, you'll get positive energy back." It must work. He got me. (jk, sorta) Really though, even if his theory doesn't really work, it feels good to be to nice. It feels good to think nice things about yourself and about other people. When someone at my office makes me want to haul off and knuckle punch'um in the eye...I'll count to 1o...and not run to my office buddy and bitch. (I'll walk into the bathroom and start throwin punches in the air like a psycho...it helps, really. After about the 6th or 7th air punch you start to laugh at the tard that is you.) Pretty soon you'll start noticing the good things before the bad. I don't know about you buy coming home from a day of joy and peace sounds way better than coming home after a long day of anger and jealousy.
Maybe I'll tell you about the "Circle of Compliments" one day. Bahaha. No, actually. I wont.
Ok, Potter, let's try to make this last! (Esp. the air punchin part because thats just funny. I cant wait for someone to walk in on me.)

A Bunch of Nothings
My new obsession is super white teeth. I want them. However, I'm too cheap to pay $50+ dollars on legit teeth whitening products. (Not to mention ZOOM, which I really wanted before our wedding, it's way over $500!!)

Look at those pearly chompers, wouldya! |
Summer is just around the corner and I'm so excited! As I've mentioned, Mark and I recently moved into a new townhouse. We have a very small back patio that we plan to fence into a courtyard. Similar to this:
Only way, way, way smaller. Once we get the fence in, we're going to throw a courtyard patio party! Mark doesn't know this yet. Now, remember, the courtyard is going to be very very small...and we have about a bajillion friends. So, if you are one of our friends, we might set up some sort of lottery system. Sorry, only fair. And just to make it even more desirable and enticing, I've been looking for the perfect excuse to try these:

Champs and popcicles, boom! |
As much as I'm looking forward to summer, I'm not looking forward to defriending my husband for those few months. I've already warned him that we arent going to be friends as soon as summer vacation starts. He's a teacher/photog so he'll be sleeping in WAY past the time I leave for work. Ugh, makes me sick just thinking about it.

On a totally random note, I need this nail polish combo. I've seen Gretchen sport this on the RHOOC (don't judge me) and love it. Getting this done for this weekend in Charleston. Hey, it's my hub's birthday, gotta look good for him! (How's that for an excuse!)
Speaking of looking good:
